After the unsettled period of political unrest since the elections of 1 dec 2016, the future for The Gambia is now looking bright. Adam Barrow’s government has received major funding from the European Union. The new president has expressed his wish for the country to rejoin the Commonwealth of Nations and today, UK foreign secretary, Boris Johnson is visiting the small West African republic.

Mr Johnson said he was “delighted” to be the first British foreign secretary to visit The Gambia since the country won its independence from Britain in 1965.

“I am also very pleased that Gambia wants to rejoin the Commonwealth and we will ensure this happens in the coming months,” he added

President Adama Barrow, has also pledged to undo Jammeh’s decision re the International Criminal Court, restore human rights and repair the country’s badly-damaged foreign relations.

With all this positivity B&C Educational are looking forward to resuming their study visits for primary heads, teachers, support staff, governors and parents.  The full week’s programme includes work with school, visits to MyFarm, Albreda (history of slavery), fishing villages, a compound for home cooking, and much much more – indeed a total immersion in Gambian life.  Please get in touch if you are interested in joining one of our study visits.AFRICA 2
